Berkshire Choral International returns to Tanglewood in Lenox, MA for a Memorial Day Weekend concert at Ozawa Hall on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 2:00pm. Dr. Andre Thomas, an international icon of choral conducting and expert in music of the African diaspora conducts inspiring works by African-American composers from spirituals to the Harlem Renaissance through today. The program includes famous spirituals and gospel songs including Ezekiel Saw the Wheel, Ride on King Jesus, and Come and Go To That Land; original works by groundbreaking composers Margaret Bonds and Florence Price; and Thomas' inspiring I Hear America Singing. The chorus is comprised of 130 talented singers from across the United States who are coming to BCI for 4 days of intensive rehearsal at Tanglewood's Linde Center for Music and Learning. Dr. Andre J. Thomas has served as an Associate Artist with the London Symphony Orchestra and Professor Emeritus of Music at Florida State University. He was visiting Professor of Choral Conducting at Yale University from 2020-2022. He is a highly respected guest conductor who has led numerous prestigious orchestras and choirs around the world and a distinguished composer/arranger.
