Opening Reception for Pride and Community in the Sonoma Community Center's Causeway Gallery is Thursday, June 4, from 5 to 7:30 PM, during Sonoma Art Walk, and presented in partnership with Sonoma Valley Pride. Artists will be present, with wines from Pangloss Cellars and bites from Aunt Momo's Catering. Pride and Community, curated by Sonoma Community Center and Sonoma Valley Pride, features 8 artists from Sonoma County. This Pride Month exhibition celebrates queer artists whose work reflects identity, visibility, joy, and community in Sonoma County. Through works ranging from 2D to 3D to augmented reality, the exhibit invites the public to experience the many ways queer artists express belonging, resiliency, and pride. Featured artists: Kathy Allbright- Art with Augmented Reality Dylan Smith- Interactive Art/Performance Art Daniel Clauson- Ceramics Jules Pierce- Ceramics Scott Hale- Ceramics Spencer DeSylva- Wine Painting Ash Hay- Printmaking Jon Leafstedt- Oil Painting The exhibit opens with the reception on June 4. It will remain open daily through June 30. Admission is free. Also, check out Gallery 212's "Carry It With You," an exhibit by ceramics resident artist Ariana Stein. Her show opens May 30 (Reception 5-7 PM). This is her debut solo exhibition. Ari's work is deeply rooted in folk tradition, both through their Hungarian-American heritage and lineage in North Carolina pottery apprenticeship. As a child of immigrants living in America, Ari values the importance of generational knowledge in a hyper-modern world. Carry it with you invites viewers to examine craft as an active conversation that marries past places, cultures, and people with the artist's perspective here and now. It is on view through June 24.
